Roadrunners Outlast Falcons

Last Friday night the Roadrunners played host to number 1 ranked Fulton (4A). There was not an empty seat in the house (or in the ally) and the fans got what they wanted. Both teams came out strong and Fulton was the first to score, make their two point conversion setting the score 8-0. But the Mighty Roadrunner offense showed a lot of heart and discipline by marching right down field and scoring (failing on a two point try) making the score 8-6.

Thats how the game went all night, back and forth, blow for blow. In the end, it was the Roadrunners who stepped up holding on 20-14 in a game where both teams were trying to make a statement, not only for the region but for area respect. "This game truly means a lot for our kids. They hear about this game in the community for a whole year, and how you perform in this game determines what you hear," Coach (Kwayu) Graham stated. The Roadrunners are now up 2-0 in the cross town matchup and unlike years past, the Roadrunners and Falcons will not meet in the playoffs.

It seems that the offense is beginning to find their rythme and the defense continues to press on and overcome adversity throughout the game. Travei Pryor, Devante Hawkins, and the Roadrunner Secondary all made big plays the whole night and look for them to continue to make big plays next week against Catholic.

So fans, come out and support YOUR Austin-East Roadrunners this Friday Night at Knox Catholic High School as the Roadrunners take the road to face the Fighting Irish in a much anticipated rematch of last years quarterfinal game. Check out the Gameday Matchup page to find out about the Catholic Fighting Irish.
